Founded on 19th July 2017, THE STUDENT'S VOICE UNIVERSITY emerged as a trailblazing and ground-breaking Online and Open Distance Learning (ODL) Institution that stands as a beacon of affordable and accessible higher education, empowerment, and advocacy. Together, we are RESHAPING the landscape of higher education for a brighter, and more inclusive future.
As a Not-For-Profit Higher Education Institution, we are committed to providing affordable quality education, fostering student development, and amplifying the Voices of those who often go UNHEARD.

We seek to bridge the gap between education and voice expression as a student right as we focus on empowerment, addressing the needs of students in financial distress while promoting their right to quality education around the world.
As an Online and Open Distance Learning (ODL) University, we transcend or rise above geographical boundaries, bringing together students from diverse backgrounds and experiences. 1. LEGAL STATUS & INCORPORATION UNDER THE COMPANIES ACT, 2017
The legal foundation of THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY was solidified and sealed through its incorporation on the 19th day of July 2017, pursuant to the provisions of The Companies Act No.10 of 2017, Chapter 388 of the Laws of Zambia, as a Private Company Limited by Guarantee.
It obtained company registration number 120170005440, solidifying its legal status and officially marking its presence as a Higher Education Institution in Zambia, with approval granted on 11th September, 2023 to “Dispense” with the word LIMITED from the Company Name (and henceforth, hereinafter called "The University”). This formal recognition not only established The University's legitimacy, but also showcased its commitment to adhering to legal and regulatory standards established by law.

2. JURISPRUDENCE - OUR ORGIN AT LAW
Pursuant to Article 3(1) and (2) of the Articles of Association (Amendment) No.1 of 2022: -
(1) “The origin of THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY (“the University”), established as a nonprofit higher education institution, and recognized as a Private Company Limited by Guarantee, is directed and managed by the Board of Governors and Directors, guided by vision and leadership outlook.”

(2) “Subject to Article 3(1) above, the genesis of the University is premised on the recognition and understanding that in the fight against poverty and illiteracy, the University can significantly magnify its impact, when its members are able to collaborate, forming alliances and partnerships with others across all stages, spanning from local to national to global tiers - pursuant to the provisions stipulated in these Articles, the Companies Acts, and the Higher Education Act, or any other substantive educational law.”

3. NOT-FOR-PROFIT COMPLIANCE STATEMENT
THE STUDENT'S VOICE UNIVERSITY operates under the legal framework of the Zambian Companies Act, 2017 (the “Act”) as a Private Company Limited by Guarantee with Approval granted pursuant to Section 37 of the Act to Dispense with the word LIMITED from the Company Name (hereinafter called the “University”).
We are proud of our status as a Not-For-Profit Higher Education Institution, which underscores our commitment to education and empowerment rather than financial gain. This means that the University MAKES PROFIT, but the profit is retained within the institution to be used in pursuit of charitable objectives.

OUR AIM: Where We Stand?
The main aim or purpose for which THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY was established is to reduce poverty and illiteracy in Zambia or any other jurisdiction through education and decent job creation by carrying on and conducting a University as an institution for teaching, research and community service as well as advancing the power of student voice in Education. We promote universal access to higher education through affordable tuition fees, student loans and scholarships, or any other economic empowerment programs.

9. STUDENT LOANS & SCHOLARSHIPS
Empowering Through Financial Aid?
Understanding the financial challenges that many students face, THE STUDENT'S VOICE UNIVERSITY is committed to ensuring that financial constraints never become a roadblock to education. We firmly believe that talent and potential should not go untapped due to financial limitations.
We offer a variety of Student Loan Options and Scholarships to support "deserving" individuals who aspire to pursue their educational dreams, but lack the means to do so. Our innovative Student Loans and Scholarships program is administered by the University Student Loans and Scholarship Board, pursuant to the provisions of the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Act No.31 of 2016 (or as amended) of the Laws of Zambia.
This legal framework ensures that deserving students have the opportunity to access higher education and realize their educational goals. Our commitment to financial aid is a cornerstone of our institution, ensuring that economic barriers do not hinder educational aspirations or stand in the way of academic success.

10. ONLINE & OPEN DISTANCE LEARNING (ODL)
In its initial stage, THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY is dedicated to making quality education affordable and accessible to all through Online and Open Distance Learning (ODL) modes as a primary methods of delivering education.
We operate as a not-for-profit higher education institution, focusing on accessibility and affordability for a diverse range of students, ensuring that education remains a fundamental right and not a privilege, that is, not bound by financial constraints.
Our Diploma and Certificate Programmes are designed to fit the needs of working professionals, stay-at-home parents and anyone seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge portfolio.

Subject to the Articles and Regulations, THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY also acts as a mouthpiece, standing as a BEACON OF HOPE for students facing financial distress.
The University was founded with the mission to be the Voice of the Voiceless Students, among other things, advocating for equal educational opportunities and promoting social inclusion in education. We empower students to share their thoughts, concerns, and ideas.

We believe that NO student should be SILENCED due to their economic circumstances. Therefore, we serve as a mouthpiece for those who might otherwise go UNHEARD, addressing their concerns and advocating for solutions that enhance the overall student experience.

THE SUDENT'S VOICE UNIVERSITY places a special emphasis on promoting student voice and advocacy, and strongly believes that STUDENTS' VOICES deserve to be HEARD. We believe that students should have a say in their education and we work to create an academic environment that fosters student engagement and participation.
Our University is not only focused on providing academic programs, but also inspires and empowers minds, amplifies voices, and advances the power of student voice in education and society at large pursuant to the Articles of Association.
Thus, the University aims to give a VOICE to those who have been marginalized or UNHEARD in traditional education systems, by creating a platform where every student's perspective and opinion are valued and heard.

13. ADMISSIONS AND STUDENT PORTAL
ADMISSIONS
THE STUDENT'S VOICE UNIVERSITY provides a straightforward and user-friendly application and admission process for prospective students, ensuring accessibility.
Information on how to apply and enroll is readily available on the university's website and through its Academic Registrar - Admissions Office.

Prospective students can apply and enroll in study programmes through a user-friendly admissions process.
Prospective applicants should begin preparations well in advance of the application deadline following the procedure provided on Admissions Page.

STUDENT PORTAL
THE STUDENT'S VOICE UNIVERSITY offers a dedicated user-friendly Online Student Portal to facilitate communication.
The Student Portal serves as a Digital Hub for students enrolled at the University to access course materials, schedules, communicate with faculty and peers, tracking academic progress, and access other administrative services to enhance their learning experience.
14. EXTERNAL & RESTRICTED MEMBERSHIPS
We Accept Youths & Women To Membership
THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY accommodates students from various universities and colleges in Zambia and abroad, fostering diversity and cross-cultural learning. Non-Student and Restricted Memberships are also available on Subscription and registration fees.
The University offers different MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES with various registration fees and discretionary benefits attached thereto.
Additionally, as part of community service and engagement, the University actively participates in women and youth empowerment programs, fostering community development and planned change.

CATEGORIES OF EXTERNAL MEMBERSHIPS
There are many different types of External Memberships on offer such as Single/Ordinary Membership, Associate Membership, Corporate Membership, and Family Membership, among others. These consist of different categories of students from other universities and colleges, youths and women in Zambia and abroad.
This means that any person, company, organization, club, or group of persons wishing to become a Member of THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY and enjoy discretionary benefits, can apply for Admission to External Membership, in a prescribed application form and format, at a subscription fee, pursuant to the provisions in the Articles of Association.

15. PROGRAMMES & MODES OF STUDY
PROGRAMMES OF STUDY
Currently, as part of the startup phase, THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY is only offering a range of Diploma and Certificate Programmes in various disciplines, with bigger plans to expand its course and programme offerings in the near future to include Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree and PhDs, among other Academic Distinctions.
Our Study Programmes are carefully crafted to provide practical knowledge and skills that align with the prevailing industry needs, ensuring that our graduates are well-prepared to excel in their careers.

CURRENT MODES OF STUDY
In its initial phase, the primary modes of study at THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY are Online and Open Distance Learning (ODL), providing flexibility and allowing students to pursue their education at their own pace and convenience, while balancing life with other commitments.
Although the University primarily offers Online and Open Distance Learning Modes, the Institution has bigger plans to expand its modes of study as soon as possible to include Full-Time, Parallel, and Part-Time, among others. The University does NOT despise humble beginnings.

UNIVERSITY COUNCIL
The University Council serves as the governing body of THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY, responsible for corporate governance and strategic decision-making, guiding the institution towards its mission, vision and goals including policy formulation and ensuring the University's overall well-being.

UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT
THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY is led and managed by a dedicated team of administrators and faculty members who work collectively to achieve its mission and vision.
These include: Lecturers, administrative staff and directors, among others. They oversee University’s day-to-day operations, ensuring the smooth functioning of the institution.
16. TUITION FEES AND OTHER NON-TUITION FEES
The university is committed to transparency in its fee structure, ensuring that tuition fees and non-tuition fees or other associated costs are reasonable and affordable for its diverse student body to access education.
Clear information about tuition fees and other non-tuition fees is provided to students, ensuring students are informed about the cost of their education.
Updates on any changes in the tuition fees structure and other associated costs are given to students from time to time. FEES STRUCTURE WILL BE ULOADED ON THE WEBSITE SOON!
18. RECOGNITION OF PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE &
STUDENT TRANSFER GUIDELINES
Subject to the Regulations as set by SENATE, THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY recognizes and values “prior learning” OR “previous knowledge” of students and provides guidelines for students who wish to transfer credits or courses from other learning institutions to facilitate students' smooth educational journeys.

19. SENATE OF THE UNIVERSITY
The Senate of THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY oversees academic matters, ensuring the quality and integrity of the University's programmes of study and courses.
The jurisdiction of SENATE include, but not limited to: curriculum development, quality assurance, and assessment of academic programmes and issuance of academic distinctions such as Certificates, Diplomas, and Bachelor’s Degrees, among others.

20. STUDENT COUNCIL, CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS
THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY encourages active student participation through a "Student Voice Council" (also called Student Union) and various clubs and associations that cater to diverse interests, promoting a vibrant virtual campus community, and promoting leadership development and a sense of community among students.

STUDENT COUNCIL is a group of students enrolled at THE STUDENT'S VOICE UNIVERSITY who are courageous and beyond proud to represent their fellow students through both academically and leadership.
This club allows students to make decisions for their corporate student body as well as organize their student events and other community service activities.

21. THE STUDENT’S VOICE ACADEMY (SVA)
Online Secondary School
On 1st August, 2023, THE STUDENT’S VOICE UNIVERSITY (SVU) took a momentous step by establishing The Student’s Voice Academy (SVA) as a Body Corporate of the University, and duly registered pursuant to the provisions of The Registration of Business Names Act No.16 of 2011 of the Laws of Zambia.
SVA's Mission revolves around advancing knowledge, inspiring and empowering minds, amplifying voices, and advancing the power of student voice in schools and beyond.
The ACADEMY was founded with a mission to address the need for innovative primary and secondary education, along with offering tutorial classes to college and university students and prepare potential students for higher education.
